Nalgene Wide Mouth 32oz/48oz

 Read this in the voice of Orson Welles.  My dear friend, allow me to share with you the virtues of a fine vessel for transporting water on long, arduous journeys. While stainless steel may be a most suitable material, one mustn't discount the awesome power of Nalgene containers.

Hydroflasks are commendable for their ability to maintain a desired temperature for one's beverages, but alas, their weight and penchant for collecting mold after one neglects a creamed coffee for three weeks leaves something to be desired. Furthermore, one cannot accurately measure the amount of liquid contained within, rendering them unfit for precise portions.

Enter the Nalgene. Our august establishment stocks both the 32oz and 48oz variations, and while the latter may be bulkier and of muted hue, it proves to be the more practical choice. However, if you prefer a more vibrant color or have limited space, the former is a more suitable option.

These containers may lack insulation, but fear not, as they can withstand boiling water without fail. And in terms of durability, they are virtually indestructible. I have owned a multitude of Nalgene bottles, and while some lids have suffered the unfortunate fate of melting due to their proximity to a campfire, they still remain fully functional.

For optimal transport, may I suggest the use of a Liter Cage. These devices securely hold the Nalgene in place, even on the most treacherous of terrain. But for those of you who prefer a more daring approach to travel, perhaps a Voile strap could be utilized. Nevertheless, if you remain grounded and stable, the need for such measures may not be required.

Random recipe: Before you head out on your next s24o (that’s what we called swift campouts before they were rebranded), take 1 cup of steel cut oats (or cut the oats with half a cup of wild rice or barley, both work well), a tablespoon each of quinoa, flax seeds and amaranth, and some raw sugar. Dump that mixture plus 2 cups of water in your nalgene and let it sit overnight. In the morning, throw it all in a pot and warm it up. Then toss in a big handful of whatever trail mix you are into, and drizzle with some maple friggin’ syrup. Perfection.
