Color:Smoke Clear Coat (black tinted clear coat)

The Discord Cheddah Stem is the newest addition to the Discord lineup.  Stiff, short 30mm reach, 30mm less stack height than the Chromo Peeper stem 95mm stack height to get bars up high but not sky high. 30mm extension, to get them close on a bike with a long top tube. Combine it with oversized drop bars, like the Spank Flare, and you have a no flex cockpit, which is great for navigating rocky roads with a loaded bike. Thick tubing, so you can run just 55mm of steerer tube. 4 bolt faceplate. 2 bolt steerer clamp, so no slipping.

Second pic shows the Chromo Peeper on the left, and the and Cheddah on the right.

The Chromoly tubing these stems are made of is custom turned and custom reamed. Those are both expensive, but you have to do both things if you want the stem to fit 99% of steerer tubes properly, and be decently light weight. The binder bosses are our design as well, made for, you guessed it, toughness.

All of our steel stems are cerakoted. The clear coat is a nice gloss. It is more durable than a powder coat clear coat, or a wet paint clear coat, but it eventually will get spider webs of rust under it. Not to worry: these are non-structural, and this tubing is thick.

Things to know about brass brazing:

No matter how good you are at brazing, sand blasting can reveal things called pinholes. These stems are sand blasted before sending them to the coater, and the pinholes filled in. But sometimes the second blasting the coater gives them reveals a new one. It’s not a flaw, it’s just what happens. If you have pin hole in your brass filet brazed stem, don’t worry. It’s not a structural issue. It’s a sign that the stem was handmade, and that, in this age, is something to be stoked on.

Minimum exposed steerer tube is 50mm. Max is 80mm.

Using the diagram above you can calculate what length bolt you need. A is 102mm. B is the height of exposed steerer tube, that means measuring up from any headset spacers you'd like to use. C is the depth to the bottom of the star nut, typically 25mm (this is approximately how deep a Park Tool TNS-1 sets the star nut). (A-B)+C= Minimum Bolt Length needed to sufficiently engage with the star nut. **Note that the bottom 24mm of the bolts are threaded, so there is some wiggle room with bolt sizing.

Not for bikes with carbon forks and not for use with carbon bars!

Made by master craftsfolk in Taiwan in a factory that has been brazing stems for 25+ years.

For Steel or Aluminum Steerers only.  31.8 bar clamp.
