Back when I worked at Hudson Trail Outfitters, we’d have these groups come up on the metro from DC who would surround the expensive jackets and use cable cutters to avail themselves of a couple few, at an exclusive discount. Prices are just suggestions! MSRP. Says it right there. Suggest retail price.
I was in the bike department, right next to the 500 dollar jacket department, and part of my job was to wander through the jacket department with a big crescent wrench looking vaguely menacing, which is pretty much impossible for me to do.
Anyway, it kinda worked, no one wants to get clocked by a nerd with a huge wrench, but it eventually these folks would just wait till we were closed, and they’d drive an SUV thru the plate glass windows at the entrance of the store, run up the escalator, and steal the whole rack of jackets.
This wrench is pretty honkin’ and it it’s good for all sorts of things around the shop. Meat tenderizing. Headset top nuts. Really jammed on bottom brackets. Straightening derailleur hangers. Threatening bargain shoppers.
