The Surly Open bar was modeled after a kid’s drawing of a seagull. As seagulls are known to be extraordinarily ergonomic, this makes perfect sense. Lots of backsweep equals hand comfort. If they just had backsweep, you’d have to run a 130mm Ringle Stem in that bad faded red ano. Ideal for mountain bikes with rigid forks that are not gunna be used for bike packing. Oversized 31.8 bars these are not, and so they’re best for shorter, stiffer forks which can benefit from a bit of bar flex. 25.4 clamp. We stock these with no rise, but we can also get ‘em with a 40mm rise. Just ask nicely. 666mm wide. Normal mtn bikey grips and levers and shifters.
