Black Nitto Tallux & Technomic Stems

And on the seventh day Nitto ended the work which Nitto had made; and rested on the seventh day from all this work which Nitto had made.

And Nitto became bored on the seventh day, and doodled a bit: because that in it Nitto had drawn a number 7 on a cocktail napkin, and in this napkin was the number that should become the form of the Technomic stem henceforth, forever more.

Actually Nitto was trying to make a nicer version of all the of Italian quill stems. The Italian stems were nice looking, but not super well made: under-built, weird bar clamp standards. So Nitto did what Japan is legendary for. They took a good idea and made it way better. Eventually the quill length on this stem grew. In the 80’s it was more like a short race stem. But it grew with time, and presumably, some well chosen fertilizer. Now the Technomic stem comes in a few variations. Really long, 225mm, quill. Then the Tallux was born. A beefier and off-road rated upgrade to the Technomic (because it's cold-forged).

Lots of extensions. Short ones don’t make handling funny, so if you need to get your reach in check, go for it!

Measured like this:

Bury the minimum insertion line by a centimeter.

Made in Tokyo by the masters of aluminum.

Oh last thing: take the quill out and grease the threads. Also grease where the wedge is gunna hit the stem, and the shoulders of the top of the bolt where it goes into the stem. Lastly, grease the stem bolt and nut, and also even more lastly, stick a grease brush into your steerer tube and goop it up in there with some good grease.

Silver stems are available as a SPECIAL ORDER.
