I do hope they call camping Campeeing in Japan.  If not, they should.

The Nitto Campee 700c Low Rider front rack is my favorite Nitto rack, along with the rear version of the same rack.  If I was going to build a classic touring bike, I’d base everything on the bike around those racks.  It’s an amazing trick to turn something so functional into something beautiful.  I suppose Nitto does that with many products, but still, these racks take it to another level.

First there is the tombstone.  That’s the vertical part of the rack that catches a stabilization sleeve on a traditional handlebar bag.  It’s made of the same curved piece of steel tubing that makes up the rack platform, and damn if that’s not an elegant solution.  Then there is the size of the platform.  Small, but perfect for a boxy handlebar bag.  You will not have to worry about how much weight you have in that bag, the rack design will support whatever you want to throw at it.  That’s not the case with a Mark’s Rack or Obento.

The low riders are removable.  Just doing a day trip?  3 big m6 bolts will remove each low rider, saving weight and slimming the look.  Those same big bolts mean the low riders are well connected to the rack, with no flex.  Put 60% of your touring gear weight on this front rack.  It’s the ideal spot for it, as the fork is already stiff, and the front wheel is stronger than a geared rear wheel.

The Campee F27 is designed to mount to fork drop out eyelets, either on the front or the back of the dropout, and then to either Canti studs with the use of Nitto double sided canti bolts, or to Mark’s Rack mounts.  It comes with hardware to do either or.  700c wheels or 650b x 2.1 or so wheels will fit fine.

You can run big or medium panniers on the low rider mounts.

We suggest a boxy rando bag for the top of the rack rather than a basket, as the platform is not big enough to properly support a basket.
