Fifth Season Clover Cycling Cap

Back when I was in art school, I used to ride with this cat named Shaun Deller.  He rode a clapped out too small Mongoose with more or less non-functional brakes.  Shaun had grown up riding competitive trials, so he could hop that Mongoose over a city trash can, or onto the roof of a car.  When we'd get to techy trail sections he wouldn't ride thru them.  He's just jump over them.  After art school Shaun moved to Oregon and started making the worlds best cycling caps.  They were the only cycling caps that fit my huge head, and he made small ones too, smaller than normal caps, so folks with little heads had a good looking cap as well.  Shaun quit making hats, leaving me bereft and without a source for new hats.  It was one of the great tragedies of 2017.  

A few years ago I emailed him and we did a barter thing and he sent me the patterns for these amazing hats.  The Fifth Season Clover is sort of an evolution of the Shaun cap, with the same fit and feel, but a leather rather than plastic brim, for compostability purposes.  

Ariel at Fifth Season nailed these.  It was not easy.  The leather brim is hard to work with, for boring logistical reasons.  

There's an embossed logo on the vegetable tanned leather.  The leather itself is not dyed, and it will darken with age and sweat and sunlight exposure.  

These caps are made with a soft and lightweight cotton linen blend that's perfect for summer days.  Smoosh it under your helmet, or just wear it around like hat that screams I ride bikes sometimes.  

The trim is cotton as well.  

Made in Middlebury in a one gal workshop.  Ultra limited quantities.  Once these are gone, we'll bring it back, but new materials, new colors.  

Purple brim lining: small.  Green: Large.  I wear an XL helmet and only have two snaps left on my trucker hats and the Large fits great.
