Velo Orange Crazy Bars

First off, these bars are probably the best looking Alt bars out there, besides the Nitto Forest Amblers. But they’re more appropriate for most riders, being wider, with some rise, and the forward extension is more practical.

Particulars: 40mm or so of rise, depending on how you set them up. Our recommendation: set the bars up with the grips pointing down a bit, not at your rear axle, but maybe 10-12 degrees. If you are unsure of what 12 degrees looks like, there are free angle finder apps for smartphones. The Crazy Bar is 780mm wide, wide enough for the sendiest of mountain bikes, but too wide for most folks. Luckily the grip area is long, so you can cut up to 45mm off either side, making them a decent bar for most sized riders. Wider IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER! Read our Alt Bar article for in-depth sizing info.

The horns that stick out the front are 42cm center to center. They have a classic ski bend to them, and feel good in the hand. The horn the right diameter for grips, and if you are riding somewhere ultra rough, throw oury grips on there. Otherwise use cloth tape, like the Tanglefoot Wool Tape, for the horn and central part of the bar.

The Velo Orange Crazy bar is aluminum, off road rated, plenty tough. They are not weight weenie bars. I have not weighed them, don’t care what they weigh, but they’re not Answer Pro Tapers.

Bead Blasted silver or Anodized Black.
