Selle Italia Flite Saddle

Color:Nubuck Light Brown

Sella Italia has spent years gutting one of the all time best go fast saddles in history.  The original Flite never needed modification, but the years have seen all sorts of crackers modifications, from cut outs to carbon to really bad naming conventions.  Try this one on:  Sella Italia Max Flite Boost Superflow.  The guy who came up with that should be fired, or at least reassigned to the Jock Jams section of Sella Italia.

In the 1990’s, if you wanted a light weight saddle for serious riding and racing, you picked up a Flite.  The Italian made saddle was just wide enough, with just enough stiff padding, to be comfortable for long rides on and off road.  It was also lightweight, shockingly so at the time.  230 grams might not sound super light in a world of disposable sub 100 gram carbon saddles, but it’s much lighter than your average saddle, and about 1/3rd the weight of a Brooks B17.

Sella Italia has reissued the original Flite with nice real leather covers.  There are 3 colors, but we only sell 2.  The black option looks really cheap, so it’s gunna stay out there in the ether.  The ‘raw’ tanned suede Flite is lighter than the brooks Honey saddle, going well with cork colored bar tape and tan sidewall tires.  The Brown leather Flite is between a B17 in honey and a brown.  It would match darker sidewalls, like Panaracer’s or Contis, and goes well with Brooks Microfiber tape in brown.

Ride these on a bike with the bars level with or slightly lower than the saddle.  Not for more upright touring bikes and cruisers.
