Rollcii GRA23 rim

Gravel and light duty mountain biking rims, sport touring rims… they’re kinda all the same thing.  You could put these GRA23 rims on a disc brake road bike with 30mm tires and be stoked.  You could also stick 2.2” mountain bike tires on there at 20 psi and rip the gnar like that guitar solo in The Wipers ‘The Lonely One’.  

Rollcii is unknown in the states, but we found them hiding under a rock in Taiwan, and we are into many of their products.  Nice hubs, headsets, seat binders.  The rims, according to Mark our wheel builder, are just as nice as a Velocity or Astral rim, but at a lower cost.  

The finish of these rims is pretty remarkable.  The black is glossy, instead of anodized satin or bead blasted.  They look like they have wet paint on them.  The silver is polished but not high polished.  It would pair well with say, a TA Carmina crank arm and White Industries XMR hubs.  Very classy. 

If you want a versatile, light, stiff rim for a reasonable price, this is your jam.  440 grams for the 650b rim, 476 grams for the 29’er.  That’s not race light, but it’s a good weight for riding hard on a bunch of different surfaces.  A truly light rim would be 40 grams less, but more material = more toughness.  

Lace highest tension side to 120kgf with a calibrated tensiometer.  Pair with 25mm Discord Gov’t Issue tubeless tape.  

Tubeless compatible if you tape em and such.  Easy tubeless set up, but you can run a tube just fine.  Made in Taiwan.
