Discord Fiddlehead 50mm Stem

Need a stem with a minimal reach and lots of stack height?  Gotta get more upright on your 1999 Rockhopper with the blown Judy and the Big Cheese grips?  Have a gravel bike with bars that are too low and too far away?  Of course you do.  Everyone does.  The new Discord Fiddlehead Stem is here to help. 

Fits a 1 1/8 steel or aluminum steerer tube.  No carbon.  Please don't ask.  The hard edge of the steel stem will eat a carbon tube for breakfast, and that's only one of the issues you'd have.  Not for downhill use.  This is a trail stem, for bikes that might get like 6 inches of air occasionally, but generally stay planted.  Think: bike packing bikes, not shreddy big hit bikes with 140mm plus of travel.  Perfect for low travel or rigid bikes, with bars less than 800mm wide.  

31.8mm handlebar clamp.  You can use a two piece shim to shim the stem to 25.4 or 26mm. 

Install faceplate bolts at 5nm and 6nm for the steerer bolts.  Grease the bolts first. 

Does not come with a top cap or a top cap bolt.  We sell those, but the length of bolt you will need varies depending on how much steerer you have stuck in the stem.  You need at least 50mm of steerer, and bury up to 80mm of steerer in the stem.  If you have 80mm of steerer in there get a 55mm M6 bolt.  If you have 70mm, get a 65mm, and 60 get a 75mm and if you have 50mm of steerer get an 85mm bolt.  You can find those bolts here, and Discord's lovely all seeing eye top cap here.   

Stem is 115mm tall over all, with a 95mm center of bar to bottom of stem stack height.  50mm reach.  

The stem is filet brazed steel and cerakoted.  If you sweat a lot, get the darker stem.  The clear coat will get spider web rust under it (eventually so will the darker one) quickly if you sweat a bunch on it.  It's not gunna kill the stem, but some folks don't like the look.
