Introducing Analog Consignment Bikes

Introducing Analog Consignment Bikes

Analog Cycles is excited to announce we’re expanding our shop offerings to include bike consignment. Keeping bikes affordable and accessible to our local community is important to our mission to get folks onto well built and well fitted bikes for lifetime riding. When considering bikes for consignment at Analog, we’re looking for well-made rigid steel or aluminum bikes, from brands that align with our customer demand. No carbon fiber bikes please, although carbon forks will be considered. Below is a list of some brands we accept; please bear in mind that approval for consignment is contingent on a pre-consignment inspection. We’re looking for bikes that are road-worthy, clean, and in general good condition. A good rule of thumb is, if you can’t get on and (safely) pedal it down the road for a test ride, it’s not ready to consign. We’re so pleased to be exploring this new project to help more folks find their perfect bike! We appreciate you considering us to help you find a new home for your old bike.

How it Works:

Think you have a bike that would be a good fit? Great! We’d love to check it out! Please send a brief inquiry email with your name and contact info, the make, model and year of the bike, your assessment of the general condition, and at least three clear photographs of the bike outside in natural light. Please include a photograph of the drivetrain and one of the whole bike. We’ll review consignment inquiries weekly on Thursdays. If we think your bike will be a good fit for our resale program, we’ll set up a time for drop off and inspection. At the dropoff we’ll have all your consignment paperwork ready to go, and you’ll have a chance to ask questions and share any other important details. We appreciate your help making this process smooth and efficient for everyone as we begin this new endeavor. Please reach out before you drop off your bike, we may not have time/space in the schedule for inspections every day that we’re open.

In order to be eligible for consignment, bikes must be brought to Analog HQ in downtown Poultney, and left there for the duration of the consignment agreement (90 days).

All consigned bicycles are subject to a mandatory $100.00 Prep and Tuning Fee. This covers a comprehensive safety inspection, drivetrain cleaning, basic tuning, and professional photography for listing. Note: This fee does not cover the cost of replacement parts (e.g., cables, brake pads, tires, grip tape) necessary to make the bicycle safe and sellable. Any required parts and the associated installation labor will be quoted to the consignor upfront and will be due before the consignment period may begin.

Commission Structure:

Upon the sale of the bicycle, the final sale price (excluding sales tax) will be split between the shop and the Consignor according to the following tiered structure:

Consignment Period and Tiered Pricing:

Our shop consignment period is 90 days. We want to help your bike find a new rider! To that end, we’re using a tiered pricing structure to keep bikes moving and inventory fresh. The bike will be listed for 30 days at the full agreed upon consignment price. If, after that time, it remains unsold, the shop reserves the right to reduce the listing price by up to 10%. After 60 days if the bike still remains unsold, the price may be reduced up to 15%. The shop retains the exclusive sales right to the bicycle during the consignment term.

Why Consign with Analog Cycles?

Our shop is uniquely positioned for great exposure, both geographically and in digital spaces. With a high traffic website with a good conversion rate, consignors will have access to an interested customer base already actively shopping for bikes and components. Your consignment bike will be listed in our dedicated consignment collection, with photographs and a detailed description. We will actively feature consignment inventory on a rotating basis on Instagram and Facebook, where we have a combined 22,000 unique organic followers. We’ll include photos, videos, and stories to help your bike reach our followers and help you find a good match. We also have a lovely retail space, located on a busy corner in downtown Poultney Vermont. Poultney is home to Slate Valley Trails, comprising over 60 miles of maintained riding trails that combine single track and more technical terrain. Recently featured in the final installment of Brice Shirbach’s Pivot sponsored series Underexposed, the trails bring in thousands of riders a season to enjoy the beautiful views and rocky climbs. It’s a good place to be a bike shop, with lots of invested seasonal bikers cruising around downtown. All in, we’ve got good visibility and a dedicated customer base ready to see some cool consignment bikes.

If you have any questions, or want to take a peek at our consignor agreement, just reach out. We’re happy to chat as we collaborate with our awesome community on this new project.
