I nominate this wheelset for the Best Looking Wheelset of the Year. Glossy finish on the anodized hubs, which also feature understated graphics. The rims look like liquid black, a full tone darker than most black anodizing. Mostly black spokes and nipples with 2 silver spokes and 2 gold nipples around the valve hole. They’re gorgeous, without being loud at all.
Of course, looks don’t count for everything. It’s what’s inside that counts, or at least that’s what my mom told me. The Rollci hub has Enduro bearings, same stuff that a White Industries hub uses. The freehub seal is big, tight, and wide for minimal crud incursion. 4 wide pawls, rather than the typical 3 or 6 narrow pawls. Big wide pawl springs. Steel axle, which is what you want for really any hub, because steel axles won’t get galled by steel bearings riding on them. White does the same thing. You can adjust bearing preload a bit, enough to keep the hubs from rattling around when the bearings develop a bit of play. Bearings are easily replaced though, and easily sourced, so when the time comes, just have a shop replace them.
The wheels are laced with butted Pillar spokes, with alloy nipples that you can adjust from inside OR outside the rim. Brilliant, but given the even tension on these wheels, we doubt you’ll need much in the way of truing down the road.
The Rollcii rim is 35mm wide, perfect for tires from 2.3 to 3”. Strong enough, with it’s half round shape, for hard mountain biking, ‘Trail’ riding, ATBing, Bike Packing, Touring, all that jazz.
Boost spacing means the front hub is 110mm wide, made for a 15mm thru axle. The rear hub is 148mm wide, with a 12mm thru axle set up. 6 bolt rotors. Shimano 11 speed Hyper Glide Freehub body.
If you are building a boost bike like a Tanglefoot Moonshiner, and you want really good wheels without selling a kidney, these Rollcii Boost Wheels are the move.
Comes with rim tape AND tubeless valves, 2 spare spokes, two nipples and a 1.85mm cassette washer!
