Sometimes a bike part comes along that is so dang cool that you need to build a bike around it. Years ago, to me that was those Terra Cotta colored Grand Bois Hetre tires. But then I escaped the tractor beam of Bicycle Quarterly and have been putting as much space between low trail bikes and myself as possible. These Rindow Tarugata grips, which I switch in my rotting brain pan to Window Tarantula grips, are made in Japan of course. The grips have amazing, subtle and unique colors, hithertofore unseen since Montgomery Ward made a catalog that farmers used for TP in the dust bowl. That catalog was in black and white, but you knew if you could go back in time with 125 bucks, you could get some amazing stuff in colors that literally don’t exist in 2023. It’s impossible to describe the colors of these grips, but let’s just say they’re perfect, and you should just buy all four colors and arrange them on your mantel.
These grips are firm, and not mountain bike friendly. Town grips, style grips. Not uncomfortable, but not long distance grips. Get these because you will never see a grip as nice looking as this. Once the government figures out we have these, they’re going to crack down and force us to only sell Lizard Skins grips.
Best paired with a tweed jacket, a hat with a feather in it, a bamboo fly rod and a flask filled with Chartreuse.
