Hozuki Large Lantern

This fantastic Snow Peak lantern is named after a Manga series called Hozuki’s Coolheadedness.  The plot is quite dense, and I’ll try to summarize it quickly.  No I won’t, it’s beyond me.  I have no idea why Snow Peak named their very nice, very chill lantern after this Manga series, but there you have it.  Maybe.  It could be named after another Hozuki, but Google really only brings up two: this lantern and the manga.  I’m just putting two and two together here.

Most camping lanterns (and I’ve had many) put out a sort of cool blue light, which isn’t terrible until you compare them back to back with the Hozuki lantern.  It’s warmer and fuzzier than everyone else’s lanterns.  Bright enough to cook with, and prep food with, or play cards and have a few folks around the table reading books.  It’s not blindingly bright, but it’s more than enough for that sort of thing.  The lantern is an ideal car camping lantern or yurt lantern, or if you are doing a super chill over night bike camping trip, and space isn’t at a premium, it’s good for that too.

Stock, it comes with a battery container for 3 AA batteries, and runs a long time on those.  You can get a very expensive rechargeable nugget for it, if you ask us nicely and don’t mind paying an arm and a leg.

Roughly as big as a grapefruit. Adjustable hanging cord with big hook, fine for tree branches, etc.  The shade is soft silicone, and can be sorta mushed for packing.
