When people think touring hubs, they often think about a brand that rhymes with Will Hood. I think it’s because 'rhymes with Will Hood' hubs are heavy and shiny, and people think touring stuff should be heavy and shiny. Nay, I say! Here’s what a touring hub should have: adjustable bearing preload ('rhymes with Will Hood' hubs are not adjustable, you just gotta learn to love sloppy hubs), easy disassembly and reassembly with normal tools, a strong axle, lots of bearings, really well machined engagement teeth for the pawls, thick strong flanges. Look, heavy didn’t even make the list, and neither did shiny!

White Industries Mi5 hubs are the product of development. White hubs were not always this good. But things have changed, and White has made their hubs better and better over the years. Higher engagement. Adjustable bearings. They’ve always had Ti freehub bodies (don't forget your anti-seize), much lighter than a steel freehub body and less-gauge-y than aluminum ones. They have huge aluminum axles wrapped in a steel sleeve, which means they have on of the highest static load ratings of any hub. That means they can take huge hits and not break.

This is the reference touring hub. No other hub has the consistent quality, the ease of service, the high strength, the low weight and high engagement of this hub. Get it if you want the best touring hub out there.

The finish is great, no matter what color. The silver is super classy.
