This rim is NOT for everyone. If you are over 190 lbs, or dent rims, want to run more than 30 psi, or want to tour, get the Velocity Blunt 35 or some other rim that has more meat. The Blunt SS is a lightweight XC / ATB rim for chubby tires, something in the range of 2-2.6”. If you ride a lot in rocks and run low pressures, get a tire insert, either a Cush Core or a set of the Tyre Invaders.
Here’s what we like about the Blunt SS. US made. Nice finish. Very light at 400 grams, but stiff in use. Tracks well in rough stuff. The polished finish is particularly spicy. Great rim for a racy Tanglefoot Hardtack build. We typically pair these rims with lighter hubs (Bitex) and Sapim CX Ray spokes for a really quick feeling wheelset.
650b or 29. Go with 32 holes if you want the beef of the extra spokes and or weigh more than 160lbs. You can go with 28h if you are a feather weight and light on your stuff.
