I know what you're thinking: really? Yes, really. We wear suspenders almost everyday. Any time I'm feeling lazy and don't put them on, I regret it almost immediately. Especially as a gal (Candice here), I like skinny legged pants because they don't get caught in my chainrings but, boy! there's not much keeping them up. Belts are semi-functional, 100% uncomfortable.
I often wish that suspenders were required in certain professions. Like when I go out and help bust single track in the summer, I've seen a lot of crack I wish I could un-see.
We only like suspenders of the "X" type, as apposed to the "Y" ones. Y = weggie city, hardly any better than a belt. In fact I think the people who wear Y suspenders are the people who also wear a belt at the same time. The former keeping the pants up and the latter keeping the pants out of the butt.
A couple tips to aid your suspender experience:
Walking Boss suspenders are made in Vermont! Horray! They come in fun colors and two lengths. Tends to be if you are a gal, of a particularly short torso, or wear a lot of high-ride loons, you want the 48 inchers. Dudes and tallies, go for the 56's. The main thing there is that you want the sliding clips in the front to end up somewhere below your collar bones. I've picked up pairs that were much too long for me and had to pass them along to James, I wish those real-tree ones fit so badly!
